Oak Grove Baptist Church exists to Gather believers to worship and know God, to Grow believers into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ, and to Go by living on mission to make disciples of all nations through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Gather

We Gather to Worship Him

As followers of Jesus Christ, we understand that we were created to worship God (Genesis 1:26-27; Isaiah 43:7; Revelation 15:3-4).

We understand that because Jesus was raised on the first day of the week, that Sunday is the day that we set aside for coming together for corporate worship, as we meet together to worship the Lord Jesus and strive to study His Word and to fellowship together (Matthew 28:1-6; Revelation 1:10; Acts 2:42).

We understand that for believers in Jesus, regular, public corporate worship together and daily, private worship is a priority for each one of us (Ephesians 5:15-21; Colossians 3:1-17).

Grow

We Grow to Be More Like Him

The Christian life is all about growing. We are commanded to “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18).

Just as babies grow up by drinking milk, believers are encouraged to “long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation” (1 Peter 2:2).

We are to “Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14).

We are even called to be Jesus’ disciples, which simply means that we are following after His example (Luke 9:23).

As a church, we are committed to helping one another in these ways every day as we love, encourage, and pray for one another (Colossians 3:12-17).

Go

We Go to Serve Him

The reason the church gathers is so that we might be equipped for the work of the ministry…so we gather in order to be scattered! (Ephesians 4:12-16)

The Good News is that Jesus left His home in Heaven to go to those who needed to be set free from sin, so anyone who claims to be a follower of Christ will also go and tell this Good News! (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 9:23)

Jesus “did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Because Jesus is our example, we seek to share the message of the Gospel with our family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, community, state, nation, and to the ends of the earth. (Mark 10:45; John 20:21; Acts 1:8)
